True Group joins hands with Phuket province to transform a new way of tourism under smart city format by incorporating 5G technology with integrated modern solutions from leading alliances like ZTE, a technology solution provider, and Yakko start-up under Digital Economy Promotion Agency (Depa) on the occasion of reopening the country. This will allow tourists to conveniently travel and have fun while reducing risks and avoiding contact at the same time. The pilot projects, with the help of alliances, are located at Centara Beach Resort Phuket, Chalong Pier, Love Andaman and The Racha on Racha Yai island. True Group has brought the best genius True 5G network that is faster, stronger and covers nationwide along with integrated 5G solutions such as  True 5G Robo-serve, a genius 5G robot that delivers food without direct contact and features Thai-language command; True Digital Smart QR Code (DGS) that enables users to order food or room service via QR code on mobile phones; True 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), a signal distribution device that allows mobile phones to connect to a strong and fast 5G signal;  True 5G x TytoCare, an innovation that combines basic health inspection devices; True Health, a genius healthcare application; and Yakko Platform, a service management system to tourism and accommodation entrepreneurs.

Mr. Narong Wun Siew, Phuket Governor, said that “On the occasion that Thailand reopens the country to welcome tourists, on behalf of Phuket province, I am very delighted that private sectors like True Group, hotels and resorts under Centara Group, ZTE, 5G technology solution provider, and Yakko start-up under Digital Economy Promotion Agency (Depa) have collaborated to support Phuket tourism to ensure safety in order to build confidence among local and international tourists with the use of digital technology to enhance the tourism experiences that are both fun and safe in every tourism area to restore tourism industry and propel the country’s economy with stability.”

Mr. Piroon Paireepairit, Head of 5G Working Group, True Corporation Plc,  said that  "With the potential of True 5G genius network that covers nationwide along with digital technology readiness of True Group, we are strongly determined to support the government sector in reopening the country and stand beside Thai tourism industry. We are ready to bring the 5G network and solutions to initiate tourism in the form of Smart Tourist Journey, particularly in major destinations like Phuket that is set to fully become a smart city. This time, we have started pilot projects with Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket by bringing True 5G solutions including 5G Robo-serve, a 5G genius robot that delivers food without direct contact with Thai-command feature, allowing the robot to precisely serve food to the customer’s table and avoiding risk of staff to be near or in direct contact with tourists; and True Digital Smart QR Code (DGS) that is developed by True Digital Group to enable guests at the hotel to order food or get room service via QR code on their own mobile phones. For the hotel’s common area, True has joined with ZTE, a 5G technology solution provider, to install a signal distribution device called True 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) to enhance the 5G-like experience on mobile phones of tourists that do not support 5G. Moreover, for customers who want to get advice on treatment for certain health problems from doctors but do not want to visit hospitals, they could use True 5G x TytoCare, an innovation that combines basic health inspection devices and allows users to directly talk with doctors from their room. They could or use True Health, a genius healthcare application, to consult doctors at any time no matter where they are. Moreover, True has joined with a tech partner like Yakko, a tourism management platform provider, to connect piers and various tourist destinations with pilot projects at Chalong Pier, Love Andaman and The Racha on Racha Yai island. With this collaboration, the identity of tourists can be verified with wristbands instead of using the traditional boat tickets. The platform also supports Self Check-in which helps save time and minimize congestion at the pier. There is also a device that can track the current location of the boat in case of emergency or inform meeting points for a higher level of safety among tourists. Furthermore, the system’s Smart Data also facilitates operators to collect travel data such as nationality, passport, photo, vaccination and test result as well as the number of boat trips, both arrival and departure, the boat companies and travel destinations; this helps facilitate tourist management according to the government’s regulations. Finally, True has extended the service of TrueMoney Wallet to shops at tourist destinations to provide cashless service and avoid contact throughout the trip. This collaboration is another effort from the private sector to be a part of tourism industry enhancement. Not only do we support the entrepreneurs in Phuket, but we are also ready to support the business sector nationwide so that we can continuously and sustainably move forward together at last.”

Mr. Markland Blaiklock, Deputy CEO of Centara Hotels & Resorts, said that  “We are very excited to be partnering with True 5G on the Smart Tourist project as we continue to innovate and look for ways to improve our guests’ experience. The Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Centre for Economic Situation Administration have recently announced plans to promote Phuket as a world-class destination. And we believe Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket has enough technological potential to attract tourists from every corner of the world to visit Phuket again in no time.”
